Motorhome Chase Leads to Shots Fired by Police (Video)
(January 29, 2018, 1:29 pm) SALEM, Ore

Four Salem Police Officers were involved in a on duty shooting following a dangerous incident in which a motorhome struck two police patrol vehicles. Sergeant James Welsh, Corporal Andrew Connolly, Corporal Mark Seyfried and Officer Pence Hodges all fired at the suspect during the incident.

Elderly Man Escapes When Carport Goes Up In Flames (Video)

Shortly before 11:00 pm Thursday night a fire broke out in a carport along the 3000 block of Surfwood Dr NE in Salem. First arriving crews found a carport fully involved with fire.

Some one was shot tonight at apartments on Fisher Rd early this evening. Neighbors told Salem News Journal that they heard shots and then a woman screaming. Salem police are on the scene and working the case.

A Salem couple narrowly escaped when fire raced through their RV late Wednesday night. When crews arrived they found the couple outside with nothing, not even clothing, and their motor home fully engulfed in flames.

A gunshot was fired at city hall Saturday evening striking one of the civic center windows. On Monday civic center employees discovered a west facing window on the main floor of the library had been damaged.

Fugitive Arrested 10 Years After Deputies Death

A Marion County fugitive, on the run for ten years for killing Marion County Deputy kelly Fredinburg, has been rearrested in Mexico. On December 21, OSP learned that De Jesus Ascencio., age 29, was rearrested in the State of Michoacán, on an arrest warrant.

Freezing Fog Conditions Forming in Marion County

Freezing fog is already starting to collect on Marion County roads. The Marion County Sheriff says that fog is forming in South County and the temperature is already at 31 degrees, and can freeze any where it can settle.


Salem Finally Opens Overnight Warming Center

The City of Salem has finally decided to allow 1 warming shelter to open. It is unclear if the shelter will provide cots or bunks to sleep. It will be located at the First Presbyterian Church, 770 Chemeketa St. 

Salem's Drinking Water Remains Safe Following Gas Spill in North Santiam River

The City of Salem says it switched to backup groundwater and reservoirs for drinking water following the large gasoline spill into the North Santiam River Friday night. Water in Salem remains safe to drink thanks to these backup systems.

Fatal Tanker Crash Closes Hwy 22 Indefinitely

A Bend man lost his life late Friday night when the gasoline tanker he was driving lost traction on the icy road and rolled over coming to a stop blocking the highway said Oregon State Police. OSP says that there were additional collisions in the area that resulted in no injuries.

Mother and Child Held Hostage at Knife Point in Their Home

Marion County Sheriff’s Office says that a Salem woman and her minor child were held at knife point in their home over night. Deputies say they believe that Christopher Hahn-Collins, age 25, of Salem broke into a Southeast Salem late Friday afternoon and waited.

Infant Death Being Investigated as Homicide in McMinnville

 The McMinnville Police told Salem News Journal that they and fire personnel were called to a apartment that is attached to a residence at 1125 NE Irvine st. on a report female infant was not breathing. Officials said that the infant sustained abusive head trauma that led to her death.

Inmate Walks Away From Coffee Creek Correctional Facility
(December 4, 2017, 11:51 am) WILSONVILLE, Ore

The Oregon Department of Corrections says a minimum-custody inmate walked away Monday, at 6:50 a.m. from Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville. Inmate Lorrie Marie Hocker, 42, is a white female, 5 ft. 3 in. weighing 145 lbs, said officials.
