— The Corban University women's soccer team returned to its winning ways on Sunday afternoon when it cruised past Hope International University, 3-0.

In what was the squad's second contest at the SOU Opening GALA, the Warriors registered their third triumph of the 2014 campaign, with all three wins coming on the road.

Now halfway through its season-opening eight-game road stint, Corban currently owns a 3-1 overall record.  While the first two wins were much tighter affairs, the Warriors doubled their season total for goals scored by finding the back of the net on three occasions on Sunday, bringing the season total to six.  The defense remained stingy as well, notching its second shutout of the season and now boasts a 0.50 goals-against-average.

Warrior junior forward Katelyn Fekkes (Stanwood, Wash.) kick-started the offense on the day for Corban when she found the back of the net for the first time during the 2014 season.  On the play in the 17th minute, freshman midfielder Dani Morseman (Cashmere, Wash.) crossed a ball from the right side, finding Fekkes who chipped her shot past Hope's goalkeeper and into the goal.

Corban struck just seven minutes later when a pair of sophomore defenders connected on a corner-kick opportunity. Kaylyn Siobal (Waipahu, Hawaii) whipped in the corner kick to a dangerous spot in the box, and Olivia Erskine (Chehalis, Wash.) finished the play with a powerful header, doubling the Warrior advantage.  For Erskine, it was her first goal of her career while donning the Navy and Gold.

At the half, Corban maintained its two-goal lead despite being narrowly edged out in the shots' category, 5-6.

While the first half may have shown similar statistics in terms of shots, the second half was a different story, as the Warriors pounded the Hope International goal, racking up a 10-3 advantage in shots.  Corban freshman forward Sadee Kallis (Yakima, Wash.) put her stamp on the game when she sealed the win for the Warriors in the 64th minute by blasting a shot from the left side of the box on frame and into the net.  For Kallis, it was her first-ever collegiate goal.

On the season, Corban now has six different goal scorers, and for the match, Corban outshot Hope International, 15-9.

Senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Mendenhall (Windsor, Calif.) was fantastic between the sticks once again, making four key saves in her second shutout of the year.

"It was good to see us come back after a less than stellar effort on Friday," said head women's soccer coach Marty Ziesemer.  "We saw many good things that we can continue to develop and build upon, and overall, it was a great team effort!"

The Warriors return to action on Thursday when they travel to Lacey, Wash., for a tough test against Division II opponent, Saint Martin's University.  Kickoff is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
