— The Cascade Collegiate Conference office announced on Monday morning that sophomore defender Tim Kagey (West Linn, Ore.) of the Corban University men's soccer team has been named the Red Lion® CCC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

For Kagey, it is his first-ever CCC Player of the Week honor.

Kagey joins Warrior senior forward Arsinio Walker (Kingston, Jamaica) as recipients of the CCC Player of the Week award in 2014.

"Tim executed in all areas during our games this past week," commented head coach Aaron Lewis.  "He is a leader on our back line and that experience is one of the strengths of our team.  We are pleased with our defensive effort as a unit recently, and we'll look to build on that as we look to keep our momentum going."

Kagey spearheaded the Warrior defense in two conference shutout wins during the week, playing a pivotal role in the center-back position for Corban.

Last Tuesday, he led the squad to 3-0 victory over The Evergreen State College on the road, and then on Saturday, he helped the Warriors continue their strong defensive efforts in a 5-0 triumph over Northwest Christian University at Warrior Field.

In addition to his defensive efforts, Kagey dished out an assist in the win over Northwest Christian on Saturday.

The Navy and Gold returns to action this week in an important CCC showdown with first-place Concordia University.

Kickoff in Portland is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
