Areas Where Wildfires in Oregon Occurred This Year Prone to Heavy Flooding

Areas in Oregon downstream of wildfires are at greater risk for flooding this year, and the Oregon Office of Emergency Management, Oregon Deptartment of Land Conservation and Development, and FEMA are urging home and business owner in affected areas to purchase flood insurance.

Scoggins Creek Fire Crews to Begin Mop-Up Stage; 55 Percent Contained
(September 22, 2014, 9:30 am) FOREST GROVE, Ore. As crews and other resources begin demobilizing, the team and local ODF fire staff are preparing a transition plan.

At this morning's 5:30 a.m. briefing, day Operations Section Chief Joe Hessel told the firefighters, "Monday's objective is to extinguish 100 percent of all smokes within 100 feet of the fire perimeter".

Yellow Point Wildfire Afternoon Update
(September 8, 2014, 12:23 pm) COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. The fire now stands at 746 acres with 15 percent containment.

Firefighters have completed hand line overnight around the Yellow Point Fire burning 25 miles west of Cottage Grove.
