Beaverton Police and the Washington County Major Crimes Team is investigating the death of a man found outside a Beaverton apartment complex early Wednesday morning.

(September 9, 2014, 7:50 pm) LEBANON, Ore. The fire occurred in a harvested rye grass field that was being flail chopped when the chopper struck a rock which sparked and ignited the dry grass stubble.

Firefighters from the mid-Willamette Valley battled stiff winds as they fought a grass fire on Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Stoltz Hill Road and Vaughan Lane just outside of Lebanon.

Only Rest Area Between Salem and Sisters to Close for Repairs
(September 9, 2014, 5:00 pm) SALEM, Ore. The closure of the rest area will start at 7:00 a.m. and re-open during the evening on Friday, September 19.

The Maples Rest Area located just east of Gates on Oregon Highway 22 will be closed starting on Wednesday through September 19 in order for the region Department of Transportation to complete maintenance projects.

An 81-year-old man from Florence has been arrested after he fired a shotgun at two fishermen, and their boat along the Oregon Coast on Monday.

(September 9, 2014, 12:07 pm) COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. The fire had minimal growth from yesterday and now stands at 785 acres, and is 25 percent contained.

Anticipating severe fire weather that is expected to arrive Wednesday and Thursday, firefighters continue to strengthen established hand lines around the Yellow Point Fire.

Sweet Home Woman Killed in Highway 34 Crash in Linn County
(September 9, 2014, 12:02 pm) TANGENT, Ore. A 1993 Honda Accord driven by 25-year-old James Fields from Sweet Home, was traveling northbound on Seven Mile Lane when it failed to stop for a stop sign and entered into the intersection at Highway 34.

Oregon State Police are continuing their investigation into Monday evening's two vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of Highway 34 and Seven Mile Lane east of Interstate 5 in Linn County that turned fatal when a passenger died at an area hospital.
