(CORVALLIS, Ore) — UPDATE: Corvallis Police have positively identified the victim in the Alan B. Berg Park homicide as 42 year old Kimberly Theresa Hakes of Corvallis.
Hakes was killed sometime before 10:30am in the park where she was camping.
An autopsy examination was performed by the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Officer this morning.
Based on the examination, Hakes suffered serious trauma to her head which caused her death.
Investigators have completed the search of the location where her body was discovered.
There are no suspects or persons of interest at this time.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen or had contact with Hakes on February 14, 2014, to call Corvallis Police at 541-766-6924.
Original Story: Corvallis Police tell us that at 10:30 AM a 911 call led them to the Alan B. Berg Park east of downtown on a possibly deceased person.
When patrol officers arrived, a single individual was located and confirmed to be deceased.
Positive identification of the decedent has yet to be confirmed.
At this time police are not saying much.
Investigators did say that “at this time the cause and manner of death are under investigation, however the incident is being treated as a criminal event.”
Corvallis Police are receiving assistance from the Benton County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police, Philomath Police Department and Linn County Sheriff's Office.
