(YAMHILL,Ore.) — On June 5th, 2015 at 6:42 pm, a citizen notified authorities that they had located what they believed to be human remains near a bridge crossing the Yamhill River on Oak Ridge Road in Yamhill County.
The location is approximately 3 miles west of the City of Yamhill, near a popular swimming hole. Deputies responded to the area and located what they also believed to be human remains. The area was secured and the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit was dispatched.
The scene continues to be processed with the assistance of the Newberg Dive Rescue, the Oregon State Police and the Yamhill County SIU. Investigators are unable at this time to determine the sex or age of the remains. They are working on a positive identification which could take a significant period of time.
At this point in the investigation, detectives believe foul play is involved and are seeking assistance from the public.
