(SALEM, Ore.) — The Governor of Oregon has signed House Bill 2375, legislation adding a sexual assault nurse examiner or a representative of a hospital to a Sexual Assault Response Team in each county.
Rep. Sherrie Sprenger (R-Scio) was honored to be a sponsor on this piece of legislation.
This bill was initiated by a citizen and will improve health care for all Oregonians, including those living in rural areas, by strengthening assistance and support for sexual assault victims.
Sexual Assault Response Teams, mitigate the long-term trauma and negative health consequences for survivors as they begin the healing process.
“All women, even those in the rural reaches of Oregon, need be assured that they will get prompt attention when they are the victims of sexual assaults.
I’m happy to see this enacted,” said Rep. Sprenger.
