(SALEM, Ore) —
Edward Francis West, 59, of Salem is in custody after alledgley slapping a juvenile and then later pointing a firearm at him last Sunday at about 4:00 p.m.
The disturbance began after two, 17 year old juveniles, crossed the street in front of Mr. Francis's truck on Center Street near Lancaster Drive NE in Salem.
For unknown reasons Mr. West yelled at the boys to get out of the street and when they yelled back he drove into the parking lot at Roth's Market and confronted the two boys.
A verbal altercation between the boys and Mr. West took place but after Mr. Francis began pushing and eventually slapping one of the males they attempted to leave the area.
That is when it is alleged that Mr. West went back to his truck and grabbed a small black handgun and pointed it at the boys stating, "Get ready to die."
According to reports, a Good Samaritan saw the altercation and stopped to help the boys.
The Samaritan was riding a motorcycle and used his helmet to knock the gun away from Mr. West allowing the boys to run away from the area.
The Sheriff's Office is asking for your help in locating the Good Samaritan or any other witnesses to this incident.
The Samaritan is reported to be a male riding a green motorcycle.
Unfortunately, the boys were unable to get any further description of the rider.
Mr. West is lodged at the Marion County Jail where he is set to be arraigned for the crimes of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Menacing, Assault IV and Harassment.
