Drive By Shooting in Salem Sunday

(SALEM, Ore) — The Salem Police Department responded to a drive-by shooting shortly after midnight Sunday morning in the 4300 block of Kale St NE.

Arturo Chacon Jr., 14 years of age; and his father Arturo Chacon, 34 years of age, were both wounded in the incident.

Both were transported by medics to the Salem Hospital.

Arturo Chacon Jr. was subsequently transported to a Portland trauma center with a chest wound, but is now expected to make a full recovery.

Arturo Chacon Sr. is scheduled for surgery this morning for a leg wound and also is expected to make a full recovery.

Kale St NE was closed until almost 6:00 this morning while officers processed the scene for evidence.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Salem Police Department.
