(SALEM, Ore.) — Park rangers at Champoeg State Heritage Area will assemble 4:30 p.m. May 26 at the visitor center flagpole for a short ceremony honoring persons who have died serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Staff will lower the flag while bagpipes will sound “last call.
The public is invited to join park staff for the annual ceremony. Event: Retiring the Colors
Champoeg features a unique combination of history, nature, and recreation.
This is the site where Oregon's first provisional government was formed by a historical vote in 1843.
Situated on the south bank of the scenic Willamette River, Champoeg's acres of forest, fields, and wetlands recreate the landscape of a bygone era.
