Two Arrested Following Shooting near Merlin in Josephine Co.

One person is in custody and the victim is being treated at a hospital following Monday night's shooting near Merlin in Josephine County.

— One person is in custody and the victim is being treated at a hospital following Monday night's shooting near Merlin in Josephine County.

Oregon State Police (OSP) Criminal Investigations Division, assisted by the Josephine County District Attorney's Office, is continuing the investigation.

On October 6, 2014 at approximately 9:23 p.m., OSP troopers and local emergency responders were dispatched to a reported shooting at 535 Pleasant Valley Road north of Merlin.

OSP troopers arrived and secured the scene so fire and medical personnel could approach to treat an adult male found outside the residence suffering a gunshot wound.

The 27-year old male victim, identified as Joshua Morrison, was taken by ambulance to Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford.

The victim reportedly lives at the residence where the shooting occurred.

According to the hospital, he is in stable condition.

Subsequent to the initial investigation, OSP arrested David Edward Miller, age 51, from Merlin.

He was lodged in the Josephine County Jail for Assault in the Third Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine.

The victim's girlfriend, Haley Jordan Kirby, age 24, was arrested as a Fugitive from Justice based on an outstanding felony warrant out of Floyd County, Georgia, for Larceny.

Also on Salem News Journal
