UPDATE 2: The Oregon State Police said this morning that Favian R. Garcia, 27, the driver of the Landrover, was arrested and lodged in Marion County Jail on charges relating to yesterdays fatal wreck.

Garcia has been charged with 5 counts of Manslaughter I and, 1 count each of, Felony Driving While Under the influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving, Misdemeanor Driving While Suspended, and an outstanding unrelated Marion County Warrant.

The children’s ages were an eight year old boy, a six year old boy, a four year old girl, and a two year old girl.

UPDATE: Oregon State Police have released the names of the victims, and preliminary information from Sundays head on collision on Hwy 99E north of Salem.

OSP says that the preliminary investigation indicates the two vehicles involved were a northbound Landrover, driven by Favian R. Garcia, age 27 from Gervais, Oregon,

and a southbound Buick Century, driven by Lisette Medrano-Perez, age 25 from Molalla.

While the two vehicles were negotiating a corner they collided headed-on. 

Lisette Medrano-Perez and her four children, riding in the car, were all killed in the violent crash.

The children’s ages were an eight year old boy, a six year old boy, a four year old girl, and a two year old girl.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and investigators are asking that anyone who knows anything about this accident, who has not spoken with police, to please call the Oregon State Police at (800) 452-7888. 

ORIGINAL STORY: Portland Road is now blocked for the investigation into the fatal crash that happened about 4:30 today, says Oregon State Police.  

OSP has verified that this is a multi fatality crash and the investigation will have the road closed for several hours.

The crash was a head on type collision between an SUV and a sedan at Nevada Street.

 ODOT has placed road blocks at Chemawa Road on the South and Perkins Street on the North, but you are still advised to avoid the area.
