Discarded Cigarette Burns Five Cars, Damages Building

McMinnville fire officials say they were called to the corner of Baker Street and NE 19th Street at the True Form Collision and Repair at 110 NE Highway 99.

— McMinnville firefighters battled a blaze that started in a hedge and spread to five nearby cars, dumpsters, and a building Wednesday evening.

McMinnville fire officials say they were called to the corner of Baker Street and NE 19th Street at the True Form Collision and Repair at 110 NE Highway 99.

First arriving fire crews initiated exposure protection immediately to the True Form building limiting damage to the structure, and secondary units arrived to contain the multiple fires spread throughout the parking area of the building.

There were no injuries, and property damage included at least five vehicles and some structural damage to the exterior of the True Form Collision and Repair building.

The cause of the fire is has been identified as improperly disposed smoking materials in the hedge.
