Michael James Halverson allegedly exposed himself to another employee, and had sexually explicit images on his department issued cell phone.
(SALEM, Ore.) — A former fleet manager for the Oregon State Police resigned on Friday, following the filing of criminal charges related to an allegation reported to the OSP Office of Professional Standards.
On July 31, OSP placed Michael James Halverson on paid administrative leave and initiated a criminal investigation after receiving information alleging he had exposed himself to another employee. The investigation also determined Halverson had sexually explicit images on his department issued cell phone.
After the investigation was completed and provided to the Marion County District Attorney's Office, criminal charges of Public Indecency and Official Misconduct in the First Degree were filed in Marion County Circuit Court.
Halverson was placed on unpaid leave status September 11, and resigned the next day.
Halverson, 49, was a civilian employee with OSP for ten years.
On Thursday at 9:30 a.m., Halverson had an out-of-custody appearance for an initial arraignment on both charges in Marion County Circuit Court.
According to the Marion County District Attorney's Office, a future court date appearance is scheduled.
