Police say the suspect broke out the windows of 11 vehicles associated with the 1-82 Calvary that were parked at the facility while the soldiers were deployed.
(LEBANON, Ore. ) — Police in Lebanon have arrested a man in connection with the break-ins of several vehicles of deployed soldiers at the Oregon Army National Guard facility in Lebanon.
Police say the suspect broke out the windows of 11 vehicles associated with the 1-82 Calvary that were parked at the facility while the soldiers were deployed on June 23, 2013.
During their initial investigation, officers obtained DNA evidence from the inside of one of the vandalized vehicles, and sent it to the Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory for analysis.
Lebanon police recently obtained a hit on the DNA evidence which identified the DNA as belonging to 49-year-old Ryan Dean Lefevers from Lebanon, who works in the area of the National Guard facility.
Officers located Lefevers, and arrested him for Criminal Mischief 1 and Theft 1.
He was lodged in the Linn County Jail, and later released.
The total dollar amount in damage to the vehicles was over $3,600. The value of the stolen items was over $2,700.
