Only Rest Area Between Salem and Sisters to Close for Repairs
The closure of the rest area will start at 7:00 a.m. and re-open during the evening on Friday, September 19.
(SALEM, Ore. ) — The Maples Rest Area located just east of Gates on Oregon Highway 22 will be closed starting on Wednesday through September 19 in order for the region Department of Transportation to complete maintenance projects.
Maples is the only rest area between Sisters and Salem. It is maintained by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and is owned by ODOT.
The closure of the rest area will start at 7:00 a.m. and re-open during the evening on Friday, September 19.
Variable message signs will be placed in key locations on Oregon Highway 22 making motorists aware of the closure.
The maintenance project includes grinding and repaving the entire rest area, replacing a fence on the south side of the property and widening the rest area entrance/exit area with a new curb.
