A Red Flag Warning has been issued, indicating high fire danger. Conditions will be hot, dry and windy. These are the perfect conditions for an outside fire to start.
(PORTLAND, Ore. ) — Portland firefighters responded to two separate fires early Thursday morning, that has fire officials reminding everyone that continued hot, dry weather in Oregon over the next week, to make sure any flammable materials are properly disposed of.
Portland firefighters first responded to a brush fire on the Springwater Corridor Trail near 7910 SE Harney St.
When they arrived, firefighters found a brush fire burning along the trail. The fire was being pushed toward nearby structures by wind and the incident commander called for additional fire units.
Fire crews began working to get hose lines around houses to keep the fire away and attacking the fire directly at the same time.
The fire was extinguished, and fire crews are finishing up the process of "mopping up" and searching for hot spots.
No injuries were associated with this fire.
A fire investigator is on scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
One homes attached deck was burned by the fire.
While firefighters were on scene at the Harney Street fire, another fire was dispatched in SW Portland.
At 2:06 a.m., firefighters were called out to 622 SW Dolph Court. for a back deck on fire.
Fire crews arrived, and found a houses deck burning with fire spreading up an exterior wall.
The fire was knocked down, and firefighters began removing burned material.
No injuries were associated with this fire.
The cause of this fire is also under investigation.

During the hot, dry days, fire officials from around the state want you to make sure that you extinguish cigars and cigarettes in an appropriate ashtray, and be sure they are out. Dispose of BBQ ashes in a metal container with a lid and store the container away from any structure. Avoid any sort of outdoor recreational burning during Red Flag days.
