— A remote control jet plane crash Saturday afternoon caused a one acre brush fire in Forest Grove.

Forest Grove Fire and Rescue says at around 1:30 p.m. they were called to a brush fire on NW Strohmayer Road that was spreading quickly.

First arriving crews found fire in dry grass and brush, and as the fire spread, caught a power pole on fire. That caused a dangerous situation for firefighters to have power lines fall on them while battling the blaze.

They quickly put the fire out, and PGE crews were able to cut the main power to the pole, and firefighters were able to again resume fighting the brush fire, which they quickly extinguished before it could grow any larger.

The fire was caused by a crash of a remote control jet, a model of a Su-35 by Free Wing, that was being flown from a nearby model air park.

No one was injured, and no structures were damaged.
