— Two horses were struck Monday night by a passenger car along Highway 47 about three miles north of Highway 26 in Washington County.

Both horses died, and the involved driver received a minor injury.

OSP says at approximately 9:51 p.m., a 2013 Hyundai Sonata four-door driven by an adult female was traveling northbound on Highway 47 near milepost 73 when it struck two horses walking loose on the highway. One horse was killed on impact. The other horse was seriously injured and later euthanized by a veterinarian who responded to the scene at the horses' owner's request.

The vehicle was extensively damaged, and its driver received a minor hand injury but refused hospital transport.

ODOT personnel responded to the scene to remove the deceased horses.
