Update: Police Investigate Serious Injury Crash in Salem

— The Salem Police Department Traffic Control Unit is investigating a serious injury crash on Silverton Rd NE and Lansing Ave NE.

Silverton Rd is closed between Williams Ave NE and 30th Ave NE, and Lansing Ave is closed between Sedona Ave and Silverton Rd. 

The roadway is expected to be closed for a number hours.

UPDATE: Salem Police have reported that The investigation has shown that 21-year old Abel Vasquez-Almanza was driving a white colored 1992 Honda Prelude eastbound on Silverton Rd.

A gold colored 2001 Ford Focus was turning left from westbound Silverton Rd onto southbound Lansing Ave was being driven by 46-year old Dionicio Miranda.

The vehicles collided in the intersection then struck two pedestrians that were standing on the southeast corner of the intersection.

The pedestrians have been identified as 24-year old Angeles Navarrette and 3-year old Briza Bello. 

SPD told Salem News Journal that all of the involved parties were transported to Salem Health with varying degrees of injuries, however none of them are life-threatening.

Their current medical conditions are unknown.
