Update: Today in cooperation with fire officials and Marion County Emergency Management the decision was made to move the Breitenbush Hot Springs and the Breitenbush summer homes to a level 1 or a ready evacuation state.
On Sept. 14 the Marion County Commissioners issued a level 3 evacuation order for Breitenbush Hot Springs and the Breitenbush Summer Homes. The decision was made after weather experts determined a risk for thunder and lightening in the Santiam Canyon.
Today, the Marion County Board of Commissioners authorized a Level 1 Evacuation notice for the Breitenbush Hot Springs resort area and a portion of the Willamette National Forest. A Level 2 Evacuation notice would also be authorized if necessary.
Today at about 130 p.m., the Marion County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Teams were activated to search for and rescue four people lost and stuck in the snow. The driver, Robert Record, 44, of Washougal and his three passengers, Eddie Nix, 53, of Vancouver, Shane Lambert, 23, of Washougal and Paul Barry, 26, of Vancouver were driving their rented, 2015, Chevrolet Tahoe trying to reach Bagby Hot Springs.
