On Saturday as predicted, the 36 Pit Fire area was impacted with unfavorable firefighting weather. Firefighters were faced with a major wind event of high winds from the east gusting to 40 mph. Dry relative humidity and temperatures in the mid-80s also accompanied the winds.
Any resident or homeowner who receives an evacuation notice due to the Pit 36 wildfire should follow all directions from officials, and if possible, move their animals and livestock to a safer location as well.
Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act late Monday in response to the 36 Pit Fire burning near Estacada.
