Update: Today in cooperation with fire officials and Marion County Emergency Management the decision was made to move the Breitenbush Hot Springs and the Breitenbush summer homes to a level 1 or a ready evacuation state.

On Sept. 14 the Marion County Commissioners issued a level 3 evacuation order for Breitenbush Hot Springs and the Breitenbush Summer Homes. The decision was made after weather experts determined a risk for thunder and lightening in the Santiam Canyon.

Level 1 Evacuation Notice For Breitenbush Hot Springs Area
(August 30, 2017, 6:27 pm) SALEM, Ore A Level 1 Evacuation Means “BE READY” for Potential Evacuation

Today, the Marion County Board of Commissioners authorized a Level 1 Evacuation notice for the Breitenbush Hot Springs resort area and a portion of the Willamette National Forest. A Level 2 Evacuation notice would also be authorized if necessary.

Sheriff's Office SAR Activated for Second Straight Day and Another Snowy Rescue
(November 18, 2014, 7:12 pm) DETROIT, Ore Mr. Record was following a GPS unit which took him 45 miles in the wrong direction

Today at about 130 p.m., the Marion County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Teams were activated to search for and rescue four people lost and stuck in the snow. The driver, Robert Record, 44, of Washougal and his three passengers, Eddie Nix, 53, of Vancouver, Shane Lambert, 23, of Washougal and Paul Barry, 26, of Vancouver were driving their rented, 2015, Chevrolet Tahoe trying to reach Bagby Hot Springs.

Downed Tree Struck by 4 Vehicles - Highway 22 near Detroit in Marion County
(October 13, 2014, 10:38 am) GATES, Ore Highway 22 was partially blocked Monday morning for a couple hours after several vehicles struck a downed tree on Highway 22 between Gates and Detroit in Marion County. No vehicle occupants required transport to a hospital and two of the damaged vehicles were towed from the scene.
