UPDATE: The Salem Police tell us that Edward Bakke has been located. At approximately 7:40 am this morning, a passerby located Mr Bakke on the ground near the intersection of Center St NE and Cottage St NE, apparently suffering from some type of medical problem. He was transported to Salem Hospital where he was identified and his family notified. The Salem Police Department would like to thank all who assisted in searching for Mr Bakke.
UPDATE: The Marion County Sheriff's Office has been able to interview the victim in last Friday Nights shooting. The victim in this case was an innocent bystander in a shooting that took place between two males who exchanged gunfire with each other, just outside of the Bottoms Up Bar and Grill.
This time of year isn’t just for Easter egg hunting. Many Oregonians are in the outdoors looking for another seasonal treat– shed antlers.
Oregon’s male deer and elk naturally shed their antlers at this time of year (only to regrow them in spring and summer). Buck deer usually shed theirs from late December through March, and bull elk from late February through early April.
Beginning Monday, March 2, 2015, nighttime lane closures will take place for utility work on Commercial Street SE between Ferry Street SE and Mission Street SE. This work is expected to continue into September 2015. Due to construction activities, the normal flow of traffic within the vicinity of the project site will be affected.
Earlt Saturday afternoon Marion County firefighters responded to the 6000blk of Culver Dr SE in Salem. While enroute firefighters where told the 4 youth occupants had found a fire upstairs and had fled the home. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy fire and smoke conditions.
This is the most since the 53 fire fatalities in 2008. Residential fires accounted for 34 of the 50 fatalities. The sixteen non-residential fatalities occurred in incidents involving motor homes, outdoor fires, motor vehicle accidents involving fire, and other situations.
Salem City Council has scheduled a public hearing to take testimony about a proposed streetlight fee. The streetlight fee would appear as a new charge on city sewer and water bills paid by households and businesses. For single-family households, the fee would amount to $2.80 per month.
