— The Oregon State volleyball team (3-0, 0-0 Pac-12) dismantled the Idaho State Bengals (1-2, 0-0 Big Sky) Saturday afternoon with a 25-15, 25-9, 25-23 sweep.

Finishing the weekend undefeated, the Beavers took home the Utah State Invitational Championship, winning nine of their 11 sets. Freshman Mary-Kate Marshall was named Tournament MVP while Tayla Woods and Darby Reeder were also named to the All-Tournament team.

“We got back to hitting really well again, with only five errors and we hit .500,” said head coach Taras Liskevych. “Those are two really good matches with hitting we’ve had out of the three this weekend.”

The Beavers finished just shy of the school record for attack percentage for the second time in three matches, after hitting .487 against Saint Mary’s to start the tournament. The Beavers finished with a .500 attack percentage, with 50 kills on 90 swings, with only five errors. The record for attack percentage in a three-set match remains .510, accomplished by the 1988 Beavers against Southern Utah.

Marshall finished the weekend with 51 kills and a .322 attack percentage. Woods finished with 89 assists, an average of 8.09 per set. She added 22 digs and nine total blocks on the weekend. Reeder had 46 digs, a 4.18 per set average. The junior libero also had 11 assists and four service aces.

“We had a chance to give everyone a chance to play this weekend, which is always good,” Liskevych said. “I thought we executed our offense and played well at the net.”

Dana Backlund saw the most significant playing time of her season, playing in all three sets against the Bengals. Backlund finished with 24 assists, two digs and a block.

Katelyn Driscoll hammered home 11 kills on 14 swings with zero errors in the match. Amanda Brown finished with eight kill in 12 swings, also with no errors. Arica Nassar joined Brown and Driscoll as hitters with no errors in the match, as Nassar finished with five kills on eight swings.
