— The South Salem Girls Basketball Team today were honored for the state championship title they earned in the 2015 season on the House floor. Representative Jodi Hack (R-Salem) honored and recognized the achievements of the team by chief sponsoring and introducing House Concurrent Resolution 29, which unanimously passed the House of Representatives.

“I am so honored to have these hard-working and talented young women in my district, and I think all of us in this chamber can learn a lot from their incredible acts of teamwork and dedication,” said Rep. Hack.

South Salem won the state championship with a victory over St. Mary’s Academy at the Chiles Center on March 14th. In a nail biter game, victory came after a dramatic fourth quarter in which St. Mary’s Academy was within three points of South Salem in the final minute. The game ended in a climactic 56-50 win for the South Salem Saxons.

“I hope that we all keep in mind how rewarding hard work can be, especially as we near the end of session. It is for that reason that I introduced this resolution, with the hope that this team’s achievement will be immortalized in Oregon’s history, and looked on with admiration and respect for generations to come,” continued Rep. Hack.
