Salem Man Arrested on Sex Assault With Juvenile Female
(SALEM, Ore) — Back on November 30, 2014, Salem Police Detectives arrested 39-year old Arthur Nigel Chavez of Salem on five counts of Rape in the Second Degree and one count of Sodomy in the First Degree.
Police tell us that the charges stem from inappropriate sexual contact with a juvenile female who was known to him.
As the investigation progressed it was discovered that Chavez had been having contact with other juvenile females.
It was also learned that he was an assistant girls basketball coach in the Salem Keizer Educational Foundation (SKEF) basketball league during the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 seasons.
SKEF is aware of the investigation and has been cooperating with detectives.
Due to the nature of the allegations against Chavez, the Salem Police Department is asking anyone who is aware of any inappropriate contact between Chavez and juvenile females to contact Salem Police Detective Dustin Wann at 503-540-2462.
