(KEIZER, Ore) — In June, 2014, the Keizer Police Department received a report from a citizen alleging Jarrod Wells, who lives at 1922 Saundra Lee Way NE in Keizer, Oregon, was selling methamphetamine from his home.
This complaint was assigned to the Community Response Unit (CRU) and an investigation was begun.
As part of the continuing investigation on November 19, 2014 at around 6:00 a.m., members of CRU and other Keizer Police Department investigators served a search warrant at the Saundra Lee Way address, a home owned by Erin and Jarrod Wells.
Erin and her two male children, ages 4 and 7, were home at the time the warrant was served, but Jarrod was not.
Following up on a lead, investigators located Jarrod and another female identified as Jamie France at the Rodeway Inn at 3340 Astoria Way NE in Salem, Oregon and arrested them without incident.
Jarrod Wells, Erin Wells and Jamie France were booked into the Marion County Correctional Facility for the numerous drug charges.
Erin, and Jarrod Wells were also charged with Child Neglect.
Both children were placed in the care of a relative of the Wells’ by a Department of Human Services case worker.
From the home on Saundra Lee Way, more than an ounce of heroin, several grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of psilocybin (hallucinogenic) mushrooms, drug records and other evidence of the sales and possession of controlled substances were recovered and seized as evidence.
The investigation substantiated that regular sales of controlled substances were occurring from the home.
During the search of the Saundra Lee Way address, investigators found household items and garbage stacked; generally chaotic conditions.
A mattress that had been previously burned was found as were burn marks on carpeting and indications of smoke damage.
Numerous hand-held torches were found throughout the home and were used in the distribution and use of the controlled substances.
All the smoke detectors except one had been removed from the home.
Heroin and methamphetamine were strewn throughout the home and were within easy reach of the two children.
The investigation revealed that in addition to selling controlled substances, the three adults were regularly using the substances.
Additionally, police obtained a search warrant to search the room where Jarrod and Ms. France were staying at the Rodeway Inn, recovering a few grams of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, records of drug sales and other items.
The investigation is continuing and additional charges and arrests are likely.
The Keizer Police Department would like to caution everyone against the use of illegal controlled substances because of the terrible long-term affects to the user, their families and our communities.
Jamie France, formerly of Redmond, Oregon, was the 2009 winner of the Miss Teen Oregon-World competition.
We have included photographs taken both before as well as following the abuse of controlled substances for each of the people arrested in this case.
