UPDATE: This evening, searchers with the Marion County Sheriff's Office have located Mr. Fred.

Regretfully Mr. Fred was deceased at the time he was found.

The state medical examiner has concluded their investigation into the death of Mr. Corey Fred, who was found deceased while hunting. It was determined Mr. Fred died from natural causes.

Members of the Fred family are planning funeral services for this Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. which will be held at Cascade High School, 10226 Marion Rd SE, Turner, OR 97392.

The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing at this time.

The Fred family has been notified of the passing of their family member and they are asking for privacy to allow the family time to grieve.

ORIGANAL STORY: Today at about 0944 hours, Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a missing hunter in the 18000 block of Old Mehama RD SE.

The missing hunter is identified as 37 year old Corey Fred who is an experienced hunter and is familiar with the area he was hunting.

The last contact anyone had with Mr. Fred was at 600 am on Saturday morning, October 4th, 2014 when he sent a text saying he was going hunting on his property, which abuts up against forest land.

Members of the Marion County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team as well as mounted posse have been called out and are searching for Mr. Fred.

They are being assisted by an Oregon Air National Guard Helicopter.
