(SEATTLE, Wash. ) — The Chico State volleyball team cruised to a three-set sweep over Western Oregon University Saturday in the ninth match of the First Serve tournament hosted by Seattle Pacific University, 25-10, 27-25, and 25-18.
The Wildcats (1-2) grabbed their first victory of the season behind Shannon Boling's match-high 17 kills. She hit .433 in the match. Torey Thompson totaled 34 of Chico State's 40 assists and three service aces. Emily Duran and Ellie Larronde had 15 and 10 digs.
Chico State won the 11th meeting all-time between the programs. It had a .239 to .104 attack percentage advantage and a 41-29 edge in kills. The Wolves held a 7-1 lead in blocks.
Hannah Deede led WOU (0-3) with seven terminations. Kiana Cash had a team-high 14 assists, while Jordin Ramos totaled 10. Sheila De La Cruz recorded 14 digs and Alisha Bettinson added 10. Sam Moore finished with six assisted blocks.
