(EUGENE, Ore. ) — Oregon freshman outside hitter Frankie Shebby was named the Pac-12 Volleyball Freshman of the week, Monday.
Shebby (La Mirada, Calif.) made her collegiate debut at the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic, helping the Ducks to a 3-0 weekend, including an upset of then-No. 20 Hawaii. She averaged 2.62 kills on a .202 hitting percentage, posting double-digit kills in each of the three matches. In her first match as a Duck against St. John’s, Shebby led the team offensively, finishing with 14 kills, three blocks and a .310 hitting percentage. She then had 10 kills each in the five-set thriller against the host-Wahine and the 3-1 victory over New Mexico, and was named to the all-tournament team.
The award is the first weekly conference honor for a Duck this season.
Oregon, which moved to No. 18 in the AVCA coaches’ poll, up four spots from a week ago, will host No. 23 Michigan State, Friday at 7:30 p.m.
