The suspect is a tall, thin black male possibly in his 30's with a shaved head and a light goatee.
(GRESHAM, Ore. ) — Gresham Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon, that sent a Portland, Oregon man to the hospital.
Police received multiple 9-1-1 calls around 12:12 p.m., of multiple shots being fired on SE 190th Avenue north of SE Yamhill Street.
When officers arrived they found the victim, a 25-year-old black male from Portland, was in the middle of the street and had been shot one time.
He was conscious when police and medical personnel arrived, and he was taken by ambulance to OHSU for treatment. His current condition is not know, but police said his injuries appear to be non-life threatening.
Gresham Police officers were assisted by officers from surrounding agencies at the scene, while detectives and crime scene investigators responded to collect any possible evidence.
Through interviews with witnesses, police learned that the suspect is a tall, thin black male possibly in his 30's with a shaved head and a light goatee. He was last seen wearing baggy jeans, a multi-colored horizontally striped shirt and possibly white shoes.
After the shooting, the suspect was seen running westbound into an apartment complex parking lot on the corner of SE 190th Avenue and SE Yamhill Street.
The Gresham Police Department used a K-9 in an attempt to track the shooter, but they were unable to locate him.
Some nearby Reynolds School District schools were temporarily in "lock-in" status as a precautionary measure but that was lifted around 1:30 p.m.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses and the victim in order to determine what led up to this incident. It is unknown if it is gang-related until we can determine the identities of both the suspect and the victim.
