Harris Ross to Join Oregon State Football Team in January
Undefeated Oregon State opens Pac-12 Conference play this Saturday at USC at 7:36 p.m. in a game being televised by ESPN.
(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) — Oregon State University head football coach Mike Riley announced Tuesday that running back Harris Ross has signed a financial aid agreement to attend OSU starting in January and will have five years to complete four seasons of playing eligibility.
The 5-11, 195-pound Pittsburg, Calif., native was rated the No. 68 best running back in the nation following the 2013 season by Scout. He rushed for 1,831 yards with 20 touchdowns in eight games his senior season, missing part of the year with an injury.
For his final two high school seasons, Ross accounted for 2,769 total yards, breaking the school record that was held by Oregon State’s all-time rushing leader Ken Simonton. Simonton was Ross’ prep position coach.
Ross, who also excelled as a punt and kick returner, broke the North Coast Section single game rushing record of 465 yards as a senior. He was selected following the season to the San Francisco Chronicle First Team All-Metro team and All-Bay Valley League (two years).
He joins defensive back Xavier Crawford , Ross’ former prep teammate at Pittsburg, as Beavers who will join the team in January as true freshmen.
