(MCMINNVILLE, Ore. ) — With the calendar turning to September, Linfield's 2014 football season will soon be in full swing.
The defending Northwest Conference champions plan a dress rehearsal Saturday, at 9:00 a.m. at Maxwell Field in preparation for the season opener Sept. 13 at Chapman University.
On Saturday, Linfield plans an organized Purple vs. White inter-squad scrimmage that is expected to closely simulate game conditions, including full uniforms. The scrimmage will incorporate regulation timing, game officials, and kicking-game situations.
Admission is free. Students, fans, parents and season-ticket holders are invited to attend.
Linfield opens the 2014 season with three consecutive road games. Coupled with an open weekend, the Wildcats' home opener is pushed back to Saturday, Oct. 11, against first-year program George Fox.
Seeking the program's 59th consecutive winning season, Linfield coach Joseph Smith returns 12 starters, seven on the offensive side of the ball.
