The Ducks will open league play with three straight home games against Oregon State (Jan. 3), Arizona (Jan. 8) and Arizona State (Jan. 10), as five of Oregon’s first seven Pac-12 games will be played at Matthew Knight Arena.
(EUGENE, Ore. ) — The Pac-12 portion of Oregon’s 2014-15 men’s basketball schedule, as well as the remainder of the non-conference slate, was announced Monday evening by the Pac-12 Conference.
The Ducks will open league play with three straight home games against Oregon State (Jan. 3), Arizona (Jan. 8) and Arizona State (Jan. 10), as five of Oregon’s first seven Pac-12 games will be played at Matthew Knight Arena.
Four in-state opponents dot the non-conference schedule, portions of which had been released earlier this fall. The Ducks will open with exhibitions against Luke Jackson’s Northwest Christian squad on Nov. 4 and then Western Oregon on Nov. 9. Oregon will also host Portland State on Nov. 30 and Concordia (Ore.) on Dec. 3 during the regular season.
The 2014-15 slate gets underway with Coppin State playing at Matthew Knight Arena on Nov. 14.
The Ducks then host the first two games of the Legends Classic against Detroit (Nov. 17) and Toledo (Nov. 21). The game with Detroit will be part of ESPN’s 24 hour Tip-Off Marathon.
Oregon then heads to Brooklyn, N.Y., for the finals of the Legends Classic against Michigan on Nov. 24 and then either Villanova or VCU on Nov. 25.
Following the Portland State and Concordia games, The Ducks host Mississippi on Dec. 7 before playing Illinois in Chicago on Dec. 13.
The December slate closes out with four non-conference games at MKA, Cal State Northridge (Dec. 17), Delaware State (Dec. 20), UC Santa Barbara (Dec. 22) and UC Irvine (Dec. 29).
After opening Pac-12 play with the three straight home games, Oregon will head north to meet Washington State on Jan. 15 and Washington on Jan. 18. The Ducks return home against USC (Jan. 22) and UCLA (Jan. 24).
Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale, Ariz., necessitated a departure from the normal weekend schedule for the Arizona trip. Instead, Oregon will meet Arizona in Tucson on Wednesday, Jan. 28 and Arizona State in Tempe on Friday, Jan. 30.
Oregon opens the second half of Pac-12 play by hosting Washington on Feb. 4 and Washington State on Feb. 8. The Ducks then close out the schedule with five-of-seven contests on the road.
That gamut starts in Los Angeles with USC (Feb. 11) and UCLA (Feb. 14). The Ducks play their final home games against Colorado on Feb. 18 and Utah on Feb. 22.
The last three games of the regular season are at California (Feb. 25), Stanford (March 1) and Oregon State (March 4).
The 2015 Pac-12 Tournament returns to Las Vegas March 11-14.
The Ducks are coming off an historic 24-10 season that saw them win games in back-to-back NCAA Tournaments for the first time in program history. Oregon’s 97 wins under head coach Dana Altman are the most in any four-year period in program history.
Senior guard Joseph Young returns to lead Oregon after averaging 18.9 points per game and shooting 41.5 percent from three-point range. He was an all-Pac-12 second team selection and a Pac-12 all-tournament honoree as a junior.
