In the AP poll of media, Oregon moved up one spot to No. 2 this week.

The Ducks received 16 first-place votes, and trailed No. 1 Florida State by 48 points, 1,463 to 1,415.

The Ducks have ascended that high for the third straight season, and the sixth time in school history.

The only season in which the Ducks have ever been this high any earlier was 2013, when Oregon reached No. 2 after the season's opening week.

In the coaches' poll, however, the Ducks remained No. 4, though by just a single point behind No. 3 Oklahoma (along with Florida State and Alabama).

Oregon received six first-place votes, more than anybody but the No. 1 Seminoles.

Later this season, the College Football Playoff selection committee will commence with a weekly poll.

Until then, the AP top 25 and USA Today coaches' poll are setting the conversation, and they had differing reactions to what has to be considered the best win by any team in the country so far this season.
