The Beavers defeated Milwaukee on the road in the second week of the season, topping a squad that was receiving votes in a very tough environment.
(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) — The Oregon State men’s soccer team is ranked No. 24 in the NSCAA poll, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday.
The Beavers came in at No. 25 in the Soccer America rankings, also released on Tuesday.
Oregon State has posted a number of marquee wins this season, beating several teams that were just outside the national rankings. The Beavers defeated Milwaukee on the road in the second week of the season, topping a squad that was receiving votes in a very tough environment.
Oregon State followed that up by beating a pair of undefeated opponents at home, topping both Siena and Duquesne at Paul Lorenz Field.
The Beavers are coming off an 11-1 victory over Northwest Christian on Monday evening, as the team set a new school record for goals in a game.
Senior Khiry Shelton’s seven points in the contest was the most by an Oregon State player since Emery Welshman had seven against UW-Green Bay in 2012. Shelton’s nine assists this season place him just four short of the single-season school record.
Oregon State also came in at No. 24 in this week’s Top Drawer Soccer rankings, and is No. 23 in the College Soccer News poll, both of which were announced yesterday.
The Beavers will return to action Friday, when they hit the road to take on Seattle U in a tough road test.
Pac-12 play begins next week, when Oregon State faces Stanford and California.
