Police Searching for Elderly Woman who Suffers from Dementia

— The Gresham Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in finding Mary Ruth Cain, 87, of Gresham, Ore.

Cain, who suffers from dementia and other medical conditions, walked away from her home in the 900 block of NE Linden Ave. at approximately 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, headed to the Bank of America near East Powell Blvd. and Northeast Hood Ave.

She was possibly spotted near Northeast 8th St. and Northeast Cleveland Ave. at 11:30 a.m., but has not returned home and is without her required medications.

Cain is described as a white female with light grey hair and brown eyes, approximately 5-feet-5-inches tall and 145 pounds. She was last seen wearing beige slacks and flower-print top.

Cain uses a red and black walker, which she had with her at the time of her disappearance.

Anyone with information about Cain's whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1.

UPDATE 4:00 p.m.:

Gresham resident Mary Ruth Cain, 87, was located Thursday afternoon, and is now safely back at home.

Police said it appears Cain may have spent the night on a local park bench and upon entering the building was immediate recognized by the county staff as a missing person.

Cain appeared to be unharmed and in good health.
