— Scoring twice in each half, the University of Dallas dealt Linfield its first setback, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at the Linfield soccer field.

The visiting Crusaders (3-0) got the better of the Wildcats (2-1) in 95-degree heat, despite being outshot 11-8 and earning just two corner kicks to Linfield's six opportunities.

Ben Mannings put Dallas ahead in the 32nd minute before Colton Allen stuck the insurance goal in the 66th minute playing against a 10-man defensive squad.

Alexander Gosselin (Jr., Montreal, Quebec, Canada) had a team-high two shots on goal for Linfield, which played without key defender Aaron Barber-Axthelm (Fr., Hillsboro, Ore.) in the second half due to injury, and a man down for the final 35 minutes due to a red card citation. Gosselin had a great look at goal just 15 minutes after the opening whistle, but Dallas starter Tino Gamueda made a full-extended stop near the right post to keep the Wildcats off the board.

Matthew Wise and Mikhail Castillo set up Mannings for Dallas' first score of the match. The sophomore from England finished into the left corner of the net, putting Linfield at a scoring disadvantage for the first time this season.

Jack O'Keefe saw his first career action to start the second half, and was tested immediately. A yellow card was issued to Linfield on a hand ball, setting up Wise for a penalty kick. O'Keefe guessed correctly, diving to his left to stop the attempt and keep Linfield within reach.

Allen put the Crusaders further ahead in the 66th minute. Joe Wiele served a cross to the right side of the penalty box, and when O'Keefe charged the ball and mistimed his jump, Allen had an easy finish into an open net for a 2-0 Dallas lead.

Linfield earned three corner kicks over the final 25 minutes, but could not capitalize on the opportunities. Moi Diaz (Fr., McMinnville, Ore.), Ivan Colin (Jr., Napa, Calif.) and Rhys Lendio (So., Lahaina, Hawaii) supplied the only other shot attempts.
