(BILLINGS, Mont.) — The Montana State University Billings' volleyball team grabbed a three-set victory over Western Oregon University in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference season-opener Tuesday, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23.
The Yellowjackets (6-3, 1-0 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) got a match-high 11 kills from Monica Grimsrud in the win. Chelsey Walter added eight kills and had a .467 attack percentage, along with five blocks. Kyndal Williams recorded 30 assists. Mataia Roderick and Haley Wells combined for 27 digs.
Montana State Billings totaled its sixth win of the season behind a .233 to .175 attack percentage advantage. The Yellowjackets became only the second opponent this season to record more blocks than WOU, 10-5.
Hannah Deede had 10 kills for Western Oregon (2-7, 0-1 GNAC). Kiana Cash and Jordin Ramos dished out 18 and 17 assists.
Jaryn Ramos and Christie Colasurdo totaled 11 and 10 digs. Alisha Bettinson finished with a pair of service aces.
The Wolves travel to Seattle Pacific for their next match Thursday.
It will be the seventh match over a nine-day span for WOU. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
