Scoggins Creek Wildfire to be Fully Contained Tonight
(September 23, 2014, 9:45 am) FOREST GROVE, Ore. The Scoggins Valley Park at Hagg Lake will reopen to the public on Wednesday (dawn-dusk) except for Boat Ramp C, which will remain closed to support fire fighting efforts.

The Washington County Sheriff's office will lift all evacuation orders Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.

Areas Where Wildfires in Oregon Occurred This Year Prone to Heavy Flooding
(September 22, 2014, 12:30 pm) SALEM, Ore. This is also a good time for anyone that owns or rents a building in a flood prone area to buy flood insurance.

Areas in Oregon downstream of wildfires are at greater risk for flooding this year, and the Oregon Office of Emergency Management, Oregon Deptartment of Land Conservation and Development, and FEMA are urging home and business owner in affected areas to purchase flood insurance.

Scoggins Creek Fire Crews to Begin Mop-Up Stage; 55 Percent Contained
(September 22, 2014, 9:30 am) FOREST GROVE, Ore. As crews and other resources begin demobilizing, the team and local ODF fire staff are preparing a transition plan.

At this morning's 5:30 a.m. briefing, day Operations Section Chief Joe Hessel told the firefighters, "Monday's objective is to extinguish 100 percent of all smokes within 100 feet of the fire perimeter".

(September 21, 2014, 1:21 pm) ESTACADA, Ore. On Sunday, the priority is to halt the progression of the fire to the west.

On Saturday as predicted, the 36 Pit Fire area was impacted with unfavorable firefighting weather. Firefighters were faced with a major wind event of high winds from the east gusting to 40 mph. Dry relative humidity and temperatures in the mid-80s also accompanied the winds.

(September 17, 2014, 12:03 pm) SALEM, Ore. 163 fallen career and volunteer firefighters will be honored, and the five additional names will be added bringing the total number of structural, wildland, and airport firefighters who have died in the line of duty to 168.

During a ceremony on Thursday in Salem, the names of five firefighters who gave their lives to protect Oregonians from various fires around the state will be added to the Oregon Fallen Firefighters Memorial.

Any resident or homeowner who receives an evacuation notice due to the Pit 36 wildfire should follow all directions from officials, and if possible, move their animals and livestock to a safer location as well.
