The Salem Housing Authority was recently awarded $117,516 for 25 additional HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing vouchers from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The Willamette University women's cross country team moved up two positions this week to grab the #10 ranking in the NCAA Division III Poll released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Oct. 8. The women's team remained #1 in the West Region.

Fatal Traffic Crash Highway 126W
(October 9, 2014, 10:43 am) WALTON, Ore Preliminary investigation indicates a 1995 Ford pickup driven by Jackson was westbound on Highway 126W when it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound 1998 Chevrolet pickup with two occupants.
The last contact anyone had with Mr. Fred was at 0600 hrs on Saturday morning
UPDATE: Search for Missing Hunter Underway in East Marion Co. MAN FOUND DECEASED
(October 8, 2014, 5:47 pm) STAYTON, Ore This evening, searchers with the Regretfully Mr. Fred was deceased at the time he was found. The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing at this time.

Today at about 0944 hours, Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a missing hunter in the 18000 block of Old Mehama RD SE.

The missing hunter is identified as 37 year old Corey Fred who is an experienced hunter and is familiar with the area he was hunting.

Woodburn Police Arrest Marijuana Dealer
(October 8, 2014, 4:43 pm) WOODBURN, Ore Woodburn police arrested Craig Chadwick, 52, of Woodburn at about 2pm Monday on several drug and theft-related charges. It all got started days before when Woodburn Police started getting complaits of a Marijuana grow at 1180 Dellmoor Way in Woodburn.
One Dead after Crash into River
(October 8, 2014, 11:42 am) PORTLAND, Ore Bystanders indicated that one man got out of the vehicle after it entered the water and began swimming to shore. The man reportedly stated that no one else was in the vehicle. The man was unable to make it to shore and died trying.

This Morning at 6:54 AM Portland Firefighters were called to the scene of a vehicle into the Columbia river along Marine Drive.


Police Searching for Armed Suspect in Grant County Highway 395 Closed
(October 8, 2014, 11:26 am) SENECA, Ore The Grant County Sheriff's Office, with the assistance of Oregon State Police, are searching for an armed suspect in the Seneca area who is believed to have fled a shots fired incident earlier this morning. Highway 395 is closed in both directions at locations north and south of Seneca.
