Search for Missing Hunter Underway in East Marion Co.
The missing hunter is identified as 37 year old Corey Fred who is an experienced hunter and is familiar with the area he was hunting
(STAYTON, Ore) — UPDATE: Search for Missing Hunter Underway in East Marion Co. MAN FOUND DECEASED
Today at about 0944 hours, Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a missing hunter in the 18000 block of Old Mehama RD SE.
The missing hunter is identified as 37 year old Corey Fred who is an experienced hunter and is familiar with the area he was hunting.
The last contact anyone had with Mr. Fred was at 0600 hrs on Saturday morning, October 4th, 2014 when he sent a text saying he was going hunting on his property, which abuts up against forest land.
Members of the Marion County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team as well as mounted posse have been called out and are searching for Mr. Fred.
They are being assisted by an Oregon Air National Guard Helicopter.
We would request that media aircraft remain clear of the area to lessen the dangers to the search aircraft and personnel.
