Fatal Crash on Cordon Road

Deputies are on scene and investigating a two vehicle car crash on Cordon Road NE near Ward Drive NE. The crash has claimed the life of one driver and critically injured another. The Sheriff's Office CRASH Team is responding to the scene.


Willamina Residents Pulled From a Burning
(August 14, 2015, 12:56 am) SHERIDAN, Ore

The Oregon State Police are reporting that two Willamina residents sustained minor injuries from a fiery crash just outside of Sheridan on Wednesday. Mr. Paul Dolan ,age 80, and his wife, age 81, from Willamina, was driving eastbound on Hwy 18 when he approached a vehicle stopped and waiting to turn onto Pittman Road.


Another Pedestrian Dead in Salem Tonight

The Salem Police Traffic Control Unit is currently investigating a crash in which a vehicle hit two pedestrians and a dog at the intersection of Pine St NE and Maple St NE. UPDATE: Salem Police have released the names of the victims in last nights fatal crash.  


One Man Dead After Hit by Train

At about 2:45 Thursday afternoon, a southbound Amtrak train struck a pedestrian at the crossing in the 1300 block of Sunnyview Rd NE. Salem police and fire units responded and confirmed that the pedestrian, an adult male, had been killed. The crossing at Sunnyview is currently closed while authorities investigate the incident.

Just after 3:00 am this morning, Marion County Fire District No. 1, as well as Marion County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a reported vehicle crash into a house in the 4700 block of Herrin Road NE.


Over Turned Truck Creates Traffic Problems

UPDATE: Just after 3:00 PM, Douglas Barnes, 46 years of age from Amity, was operating a 1985 Peterbilt pulling two flat bed trailers loaded with lumber, when it rolled over as he was southbound on the Salem Parkway negotiating the curve onto Commercial St NE. Barnes was not injured in the crash. The truck leaked diesel fuel and the lumber spilled onto the roadway and into a manufactured home park. The crash also sheared off a power pole.


Fatal Head On Crash Near Sheridan
(February 8, 2015, 11:12 pm) SHERIDAN, Ore

Oregon State Police are investigating a fatal head on crash that occured this afternoon on highway 22W at milepost 6.5, near Red Prairie Road in Polk County. Preliminary information indicates shortly before 4:30 p.m., a green, 1995 Plymouth Neon, was westbound on highway 22W near Red Prairie Road overtaking another vehicle in the oncoming lane.


SUV Hits Woman on Bench Pushes Her Through Window

Earlier this evening a woman was struck by an SUV while she sat on a bench in front of the EZ Laundry in South Salem. The driver remained on the scene, and police tell us that alcohol was not a factor. The woman was transported to Salem Hospital with unknown injuries.


Salem Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Involved Crash

Salem Police are investigating an early morning fatal vehicle/pedestrian crash on Center St NE near 18th St NE. Salem Police officers were dispatched to the intersection at approximately 5:45 this morning and found that 64-year old Stephen Buchanan of Keizer had been driving eastbound on Center St when he struck 77-year old David McGregor of Salem.


South River Rd. to Remain Closed At Least One More Day

The City of Salem says that River Road South will remain close through tomorrow morning. The extra time is so city and contract workers can complete additional repairs to the protective screening at that location.
