Oregon State Capitol Will Be Handing Out 2000 Free Eclipse Glasses Just Prior to Big Event

— Today and tomorrow, during an extended weekend of eclipse programming, the Oregon State Capitol will be giving out 1000 FREE eclipse glasses per day to excited eclipse watchers who still need certified eye protection.

Starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, until supplies run out or 2 p.m. whichever happens first, glasses will be distributed on the front steps. Monday, starting at 8 a.m. glasses will be distributed on the front steps.

Monday, starting at approximately 9:05 a.m., Rose City Astronomer President Margaret Mcrea will be narrating the eclipse (with sound amplification) from the Capitol front steps, this is part of the Oregon State Capitol Foundation Speaker Series. Unobstructed viewing and free seating is available in the Capitol Mall, feel free to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to settle in and watch the almost two and a half hour event.
