— At about 1:15pm today, Sherwood Police were called to Massage Envy in Sherwood to check on the welfare of two unattended children in a minivan.

When officers arrived they found medics from TVFR checking on the children, ages 5 & 6, who were in the van alone.

Officers found the van parked in the sunlight and found the children hot and sweating.

The children were tended to by TVFR medics and were OK.

The father of the children was inside getting a massage and told employees the children's mother was with them, even though she was not.

Officers took the children into protective custody until their mother was located and responded to the scene, at which point the children were released to their mother.

Sherwood Police arrested Mr. Khalid Albugami, age 35 of Portland, and charged him with two counts of Child Neglect in the second degree.

He was lodged at the Washington County Jail.

Sherwood Police credit the employees for taking the appropriate action and calling 9-1-1, and reminds citizens that temperatures can reach dangerous levels inside a parked car.

Police also want to remind parents that no matter the temperature, children under age 10 should never be left alone or unattended by an adult.
