Portland Traffic Alert for Sunday’s Portland Marathon

The starting line for the Portland Marathon and Portland Marathon Half is at SW 4th and Taylor in downtown Portland. The events start together at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday.

— On Sunday, the Portland Marathon will require the following restrictions and closures in the Portland area.

  • U.S. 30 Bypass eastbound and westbound across the Willamette River (the St. Johns Bridge) will be restricted to 8 feet, 6 inches in width (the legal width) between 5:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. One lane will be open in each direction for traffic.
  • U.S. 30 eastbound between the St. Johns Bridge and North Kittridge Avenue will be restricted to 8 feet, 6 inches in width between 5:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
  • Bridge Avenue and U.S. 30 westbound left turn onto Bridge Avenue will be closed between 5:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Traffic will access U.S. 30 and the St. Johns Bridge from the north side of Bridge Avenue.
  • The ramp from I-5 southbound exit 300B to the Morrison Bridge westbound will be closed between 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. The ramp to Belmont Street (OMSI) will remain open at all times.
  • The ramp from I-5 northbound exit 302C to Greeley Avenue will be closed between 5:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m..
  • The ramp from Interstate 405 northbound, exit 1B, to Southwest 4th Avenue will be closed between 5:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
  • No local detour is available. Motor carriers hauling loads need to avoid traveling through this area during the restricted times or use authorized alternate routes.
  • For questions or help with determining authorized alternate routes, please contact the Over-Dimension Permit Unit Monday-Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at 503-373-0000.

Motor Carriers need to provide this information to their drivers, by copy of this letter or other means, to assure their awareness of the restriction.
