Train Kills 19 Year Old Man in Albany

They were confronted by an employee who told them it was not safe as trains travel through that area very fast, moments later Warner was hit by the train.

— Linn County deputies are investigating the death of a 19-year old man that was struck and killed by a train near Old Salem Road, in Albany.

Today at about 10:56 p.m. the Sheriff's Office 9-1-1 dispatch center received a call from a Georgia Pacific Chemical Division employee reporting a person was walking south on the railroad tracks.

The caller told dispatch the person was struck by a southbound Amtrak train.

The train was fifteen cars in length which included the engine.

The victim was identified as Luke James Warner, from Brownsville.

Emergency Personnel from the Albany Fire Department and Linn County Deputies searched the area and located Warner near the railroad tracks at about 11:03 p.m.

The investigation reveals Warner and Bailey Anne Weinberg 18 years old of Canby, had run out of gas while traveling on I-5.

They began walking on the railroad tracks towards Albany for gas.

While walking near Georgia Pacific they were confronted by an employee who told them it was not safe as trains travel through that area very fast, moments later Warner was hit by the train.

Weinberg was not injured.
