Accident at Mill City Lumber Yard Kills Local Millwright Working on Wood Press

33-year-old Bryan Dodge was repairing a wood press, when police say for an unknown reason the mill press activated, and crushed him to death.

— Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies and investigators from the Oregon Occupational Safety and Heath are trying to figure out what exactly happened Wednesday night a Mill City, Oregon lumber yard that killed one person.

Linn County Undersheriff Jim Yon says deputies and the Mill City Fire Department were called just after 11:00 p.m. to Freres Lumber in Mill City after millwright, 33-year-old Bryan Dodge was repairing a wood press.

For an unknown reason the mill press activated, and crushed him to death, Yon said.

Linn County deputies are being assisted with the investigation by the Linn County Medical Examiner and OSHA.
